Over the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, the federal government provided three relief and stimulus packages to aid K-12 education. Through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSA), and the American Rescue Plan Act (ARP) the federal government has provided over $189 billion in aid under the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) Fund. Of these educational aid funds, the State of Connecticut has received over $1.6 billion.
This policy briefing provides an overview of the process state education agencies (SEAs) and local education agencies (LEAs) must follow to access their allocated ESSER funding under each of the federal coronavirus relief and stimulus acts.
