Life After ESSER Funding

Federal COVID-19 relief funding through the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) Fund provided a historic infusion of money to school districts throughout the country, including $1.7 billion to Connecticut school districts.

But as ESSER dollars expire, districts are experiencing the impacts of no longer having that critical funding available and many are facing significant fiscal cliffs. The dashboard below offers a look at how Connecticut school district budgets will be impacted as ESSER funding ends, and analyzes each district's Fiscal Cliff Risk.

Use the dashboard to select a district and see how the infusion of ESSER funds changed its budget, and how the elimination of those one-time dollars may result in significant budget gaps.
