Towns and cities that past education funding formulas shortchanged are backing legislation to speed up the changeover to a new funding method that is expected to direct nearly $300 million more to them.
State lawmakers also are exploring the possibility of further amending the revised funding formula to scrap scheduled decreases in educational equalization payments that other municipalities are now due to receive through 2030.
