Required by Section 4-74a of the Connecticut General Statutes, this report is prepared by Connecticut's Office of Policy and Management and is required to "include the recommendations of the Governor concerning the economy and shall include an analysis of the impact of both proposed spending and proposed revenue programs on the employment, production and purchasing power of the people and industries within the state.”
This report is also intended to provide a brief profile of the State of Connecticut, the economy of the state, revenues and economic assumptions that support the governor's budget, and an analysis of the impact of both proposed spending and proposed revenue programs on the economy of the State of Connecticut.
The report focuses on eight areas including: 1) the general characteristics of the state; 2) the profile of employment in the state; 3) an in-depth analysis of important Connecticut sectors; 4) the performance indicators of the United States, the New England region, and Connecticut; 5) a discussion of the most important revenue sources; 6) the economic assumptions of the governor's budget and a numerical comparison of some of the important indicators used in the preparation of the governor's budget; 7) the revenue forecasts of the General Fund and the Special Transportation Fund; and 8) the expected impact of the governor's budget on the economy of the State of Connecticut.
