Budget Snapshots: Adopted Biennial State Budget for FYs 2022 and 2023
Jun 18, 2021 - less than 1 minute
After passing the biennial budget for fiscal years 2022 and 2023 the week prior, on June 17, 2021, the Connecticut General Assembly adopted the “implementer bill” that contains the policy provisions that put the budget into effect.
Contained in the new state budget, which is scheduled to go into effect on July 1, 2021, are numerous changes to revenue policies and appropriations that fund K-12 public education in Connecticut.
To help better understand the adopted budget, we've put together two brief analyses examining how the new state budget impacts education funding and state revenue.
These budget snapshots provide a nonpartisan look at how the new budget compares to current education spending and state revenue levels, detail key policy changes, and (in the case of the education snapshot) provide estimated town-by-town runs for the Education Cost Sharing (ECS) grant.
